I’m not sure if the phrase ‘punk ass boring’ even means anything, even less sure it describes what I intended it to. But it sounds good. I’ll choose to say whatever I feel like, so bite me!
Anyhooo, suddenly I felt like writing a post. Is that the reason I blog? Out of boredom? I sincerely hope not. I’m possibly more bored than those commentators covering the Australia-Scotland cricket match. You could literally feel the numbness in their bodies and grumpiness by the time Scotland were 80 odd for 6 towards the closing stages of the match. Poor Michael Slater, Tony Cozier, Michael Holding and so forth.. They had resorted to talking about their relationships, wives, children, stadium stands, exotic Caribbean birds, dotted polkas, peppered shrimp.. ANY bloody thing on the planet that they could think of, bar the cricketing action on the field. The poor souls could hardly be blamed. I think groundskeeper Willy could have done a better job at batting than Scotland’s middle order. Apparently Scotland won the ICC championship among the minnows. This just goes to show the general standard of cricket in the world. Anyway, I digress. Lets talk more about me *evil grin*
Was walking around the other day and saw the above building being demolished. Brought down wall by wall, brick by brick with utter disdain. Another period building being destroyed, possibly to make room for some darn shopping centre. Hate those things. These shopping malls will eat up everything and everybody one day. Work of the devil, I tell you. Reminds me of that South Park episode.
There’s something romantic about demolition though! Can’t put my finger on it. Maybe it somehow stems from that high testosterone level or perhaps a need for a medium to vent your frustration. But if you are a male, its darn satisfying! Yes, yes I know. Destroying is easy, building is difficult.. please spare me the lecture. So, I stood there and watched while they were bringing the building down for a good 6 minutes. I could’ve stood longer, if it didn’t feel awkward I guess. Watching and thinking aloud “hey you left a little bit there.. do that one first.. I wonder if the whole thing would come off.. wow I’d love to do that”. I can now, to some extent, understand people’s obsession about NASCAR, demolition derby and what not.

Err… maybe I digress too but these demolitions were kinda routine during my early college life because that was when Pune was shedding its second grade city status and turning into a real cosmopolis. So when I watch a demolition or a road-laying in progress, I somehow seem to think of my college days. Maybe thats a weird way in which our brain remembers important things - by linking them to seemingly innocuous incidents. How many times does listening to a mid-90s song remind you of something/someone/somewhere? Weird eh? Same here. Me too [:-)]
And who the heck is Kareena and why would she WHISPER in your ear when she’s speaking to you on the phone?? LOL, in office, cant hear that audio clip.

Whoa! Even I so vividly remember enjoying these demolitions since childhood. And yes, with it also remember envying the guy behind the bulldozer’s wheel. Its just fab to see a strong solid structure of bricks falling like a pack of cards. Plus when I was in India, they used to happen to shops and showrooms that had encroached on like the whole footpath and then half the street with their elaborate steps and overhangs (More than half the shop’s display was outside the actual shop). So there was always a lot of drama involved… first came big red crosses and then the D-day LOL and I used to love standing there with a told-ya-so look as the culpable, stuck-up shopkeeper screamed like crazy at how unreasonable the municipality is. Haha.
What a shame that in London they seal off the neighbouring roads, cover it all up and bomb it all without dropping me an invitation. Sigh!
