I hate girl and boy bands so much it makes me squirm. They disgust me! I’m not saying I didnt listen to any when I was a teenager or perhaps more accurately, a kid. I did like my fair share of ‘catchy tunes’ in the past, but things were a lot different then. Yes they were mostly mushy romantic songs but with some good lyrics. The kind of crap that passes on as songs these days is amazing. I still find the boy bands somewhat bearable, to some extent anyway. But the these girl bands..argh! All these girl “diva” bands agonize me. Your Girls Aloud, Sugarbabes, Pussycat Dogs err.. Dolls.. you know the lot.

Here’s one song from Girls Aloud thats on top of the charts in UK these days. It goes something like this:

I’ve got to heat it up
Doctor, got to heat it up
I’ve got till 3 o’clock
I’ve got to rock until you drop

Heat what up? Your tools? Then comes the main chorus:

Something kinda ooh,
Jumping on my tutu
Something ’side of me,
Wants some part of you oo-ooh

Something kind of Ooooh ? Jumping on my TUTU ??? I can sort of imagine what Ooooh might be and it really seems to like your tutu. The worst part is they keep showing this song again and again on TV. And then come the sugababes and then the Pussycat Trolls - Don’t cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me? Yes I do. So, when are you coming over?

You’ll find all of these songs and I mean ALL of these songs follow the exact same pattern and are based on the same idea. It goes something like this:

I’m such a good girl.
You look like a womanizer.

I’m not like your other girls
I need you to respect me.

Show me your car.
Give me flowers.
Treat me right. (never really understood what exactly that means)
Show me the money.

You know what, I’m feeling lonely
Something is happening to me
or my TUTU, as the case might be (hey that rhymed :P)
What are you waiting for?

Good thing you got this off your chest.

But hey…why did you have this on your chest in the first place? I mean, why are you even listening to all such crap. Forget it man…there’s tons better music around. Get your ipod/walkman and rock your mind with some of your favourite tunes. People from my clan believe good music stopped happening after I stopped being a kid i.e. ‘good music died with the 80s’ !! LOL.

So good thing you are in India now, away from the shitty cold here. When you coming back to the UK?

Ummm… though I must say individual those couple of those cats are quite hot.

I like this Tutu song hehehehe - must listen to this tripe.

Really, it pisses you that bad? Hmm.. I think I have become so used to being fed the lyric-defunct high-on-beat-and-tempo junk music, my brain processes real English language and English pop music as totally different entities.

For someone who can still get punch-drunk for no reason on tracks like Gasolina, these Tutus strike a hell of a lot of meaning. We might be a generation filled with linguistically deranged beings but we sure have an ear to appreciate when someone croons the most visceral of body sounds. I say, keep ‘em coming, for it can only get better from now on.

@Guns: You cant get away from some things in life. These songs follow you everywhere. For example. no matter how hard you tried, if you live in India can you escape Himesh Reshammiya? Its a bit like that. I’m not in India GuNs. At the moment I’m not in UK either. Where in UK are you?

@Suyog: LOL Yes, I see these two songs played time and again too. I remember in the olden days Nelly Furtado sung songs “I’m like a bird etc” and no one gave a damn. And suddenly she’s the hottest thing around with some sleazy lyrics and boodyshaking. Says a lot about the current generation and times!

@Basanti: hehe.. I kinda miss that Mika fella Din naiyoo langda te raat naiyoolannnngdeeeeeeeeen That guy is a living nose.

@Karan: Btw I find gasolina quite catchy too LOL Yes I totally agree about English as language and pop language. My problem is watching the same thing on TV, same clothes, lyrics, dancing, sleaze (sometimes I welcome that) , again and again on TV is just frustrating. Its kind reached the point of saturation. I guess I could always look away, but that would be an easy solution lol

Ashmi you are absolutely right. I’m extremely funny or funny to the extreme perhaps.
