There are many pleasant ways to start your morning. Have a nice shower, take that cuppa coffee or tea, pick up that newspaper and sit in the warmth of the morning sun. You could go for a nice little walk, stretch a bit. If you are one of those deeply religious souls you could listen to your bhajans and pray a while. Spiritually inclined people could meditate or put on some relaxing music. Then there are people like me. People, who wouldn't mind doing any of the above. Trouble is, I hardly get to see mornings. I generally sleep through them!
What a nice start to the day it was. Spoke to a few people on the phone, cracked a few jokes, was getting ready for my brunch.. And there it appeared on TV, out of nowhere, like a rabid dog ready to bite your leg. What was it? It was the Punjabi singer Mika!
“Din naiyo langdaa te raat naiyo langdeeee”
His “langdeeeee” sounds like he just lost his grandmother! There are different kinds of torture you can subject me to at the start of the day. Beat me with a rusty stick, bang my head on the wall, suspend me upside down from the ceiling but DON'T please don't make me listen to Mika first thing. Mika's singing sounds like someone's cleaning your blocked drainage pipes while fixing your tin roof with a hammer at the same time. I mean, the baboon mating call is probably more melodious than Mika. The mere mention of this creature is enough to spoil my whole day. Heck, I don't even feel like writing this post anymore.
So I took off on my bike and once again gave in completely to road rage. All because of that Mika fella. OK, ok not really. But now I feel I've completely settled into the Delhi traffic. Nothing seems odd anymore, feels like home. Delhi/Indian traffic deserves a mention in a big separate post one of these days. Meanwhile, my Moto GP is all set. I'm absolutely flying on the road with no one to stop me. No roads are long enough for me, no barriers impregnable. My bike is not as good as it used to be.. getting older like me. But when I'm out there I'm the king of the road. Take me on if you dare!!

Delhi traffic, well it usually takes a like a day to get over the initial shock, but thats
about it, there’s no real Getting-used-to involved. I mean, i’ve spent half my life there,
what is there that i’m NOT used to!

Why is everyone after Himesh though? He’s nowhere as irritating as Mika. I mean I can understand people are fed up with “Ek baar aaja aaja” being shown every 10 minutes on TV but its only for a while.
Neha: You are right. Getting used to the traffic doesnt take more than a day but if you are driving its a bit difficult. On one hand, for about a year, you drive in a place where everyone follows rules, traffic is very organised etc. and then suddenly you are dropped in the middle of total chaos hehe.. That takes a few days of getting used to. And this doesnt apply only to Delhi but any Indian city in general. But every year I love this experience I must say.
Mika - well if you havnt heard sing consider yourself lucky. Trust me, even Anu Mallik can sing better. Its like Mika is on drugs all the time.
