		<description>Supremus,

I dont find any airport in India up to par. Perhaps, privatisation is the way to go. Take B'lore airport for instance. It looks like its been converted from a part time refugee shelter. When will they leave that makeshift HAL thing and do something about it. I hope its much better now than it was when I last saw it. And to think that B'lore is such a hot destination for foreigners.

The only airport in India I've been slightly impressed with is in Mumbai. That too is a bit small for my liking. And the amount of hassle you get on the street outside it is unbearable, even for locals. They tell me there is an Intl. airport now in Hyderabad. Anyone know anything abt it ?

I think the reason our airports, especially Indira Gandhi International, are like that is because we want our tourists to be mentally prepared for what they are gonna deal with once they step out. We dont want anyone to have any false impressions :P

Yes, home is truly where the heart lies!

Good point about the phenyl. You can smell it almost immediately.
You cant help it though. The airport is situated in a place surrounded by acres and acres of wasteland. There are a lot insects and what not, especially during the rainy season. Of course, they could use something more sophisticated than phenyl, but thats how Govt. facilities are - hardly bothered about such 'petty' things.

<description>Delhi airport without a doubt is the worst in this world - nothing even comes close to it. I wish they just renamed it Jhopad Patti airport instead of Indira Gandhi. But they mean the same, you may say, and I think I agree :D

But as a song says "The journey home, is never too long..."

<description>All the Indian airports have one thing in common.. they all use same phenoyl....

Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi.. all of them.. and the same dusty seats.. and those creepy looking workers and gaurds!!

Once on Diwali night I was on Delhi Airport... I think in 2001.. and they had decorated the place so well.. a huge "deep" and lots of flowers on the floor.. but it all got subdued due to the phenoyl! :P
